The Fibonacci number sequence embodies a mathematical pattern often linked to the golden ratio, symbolising harmony and efficiency in nature. The Fibonacci number sequence is also evident in other domains such financial markets, art and biology. The Fibonacci sequence manifests itself in the arrangement of leaves, branches and other structures to optimise sunlight exposure and space efficiency.

Having grown up in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, I am very familiar with the area’s beautiful tree-lined streets and green corridors along waterways like Gardiners Creek and the Yarra River. These features contribute to a suburban landscape that supports valuable biodiversity and many homes along these green corridors act as an extension of these green corridors. Indigenous plants are well adapted to the soils and climate of the area and also provide an important habitat for wildlife.
